Abstract:
This paper presents an adaptive robust optimal transmission switching (AR-OTS) approach to cope with the uncertain nature of net nodal electricity demands. The proposed AR-OTS approach models the uncertain net nodal electricity demands through distribution-free bounded intervals producing a polyhedral uncertainty set. The optimal solution of AR-OTS is immunized against the worst case realization of uncertain net nodal electricity demands, and its robustness can be adjusted by means of a definite integer-valued parameter named degree of robustness. In addition, a Latin-hypercube-sampling-based postoptimization procedure is exploited in this paper to evaluate the performance of optimal solutions under different realizations of uncertain net nodal electricity demands. The proposed AR-OTS is implemented on the IEEE 118-bus and IEEE 300-bus test systems, and its effectiveness is evaluated under different circumstances.
